Alright so you get a text and it ends with ROFL. Um what strange new language is this? Well it's still English but just abbreviated! Tech savvy smart phone owners use them to make texting more efficient. It also helps to display certain emotions. Distinguishing someone's mood through text can sometimes be a challenge and misinterpretation happen, so these can assist you. Emojis don't have to be the only option. Not to mention sometimes Emojis can feel a little juvenile, unprofessional or too informal, depending on who you're conversing with.
These types of text acronyms and abbreviations might come in handy so you don't miss out on important information, so you can text faster, or just so you feel hip and with it LOL. See what I did there? Ok let's go through some common lingo you might see.
We'll begin with the one I just used. It's arguably the most popular one you'll come across. LOL simply means Laugh Out Loud. Easy right? Now let's take a look at a few more you might want to learn below:
